Child & Adolescent Therapy
In South-West London & Online
Are you worried that something is troubling your child or teenager? Is their behaviour communicating that something may be wrong, or have they shared something that is concerning? Perhaps there is there just a lot happening in their life that is difficult to manage, or their school have been contacting you with issues they’ve observed?
Our therapists at the Wellbeing Centre offer a variety of approaches for working with the issues that are manifesting in children’s lives. We also have therapists specially trained to support adolescents in this intense phase of life, increasingly so when dealing with social pressures, social media and increasing awareness around mental health, neurodiversity and trauma.
When asked about how to support young children and young people to grow up in the world today, James Hillman (an eminent psychologist) replied that children and young people in fact need to “grow down”. He went on to describe the need for them to experience being connected to their family and/or the wider world, being loved and valued, and having the security of a safe base at home, school and in friendships.
Our therapists at the Wellbeing Centre Teddington understand how children and young people communicate, often through their behavior and see it as a responsibility to help children and young people to ‘grow down’. We provide a wide range of therapies to support and enhance their wellbeing, attachments and mental health.

Parent Support
The demands on parents in the world today appear to be increasing over time. The pressures of work, finances, maintaining a healthy couple relationship, dealing with family life and social pressures can be experienced as overwhelming at times. There can be great value in making time and pausing to reflect on family life, either as a single parent, carer or as a couple.
The sessions with our therapists focus on parents’ current situations and explore wished for outcomes into the future. Often, the path follows an exploration of the templates we have inherited from our own upbringing and how we have tried to instil and sometimes avoid, certain patterns of relating to out children. From there, there is opportunity to create new templates for relating to our family with the child or children at the centre of our thinking.
It would be fair to say that in recent times, ideas have shifted around day to day parenting. If parents are finding that the usual ideas for parenting have been exhausted, our therapists are well able to support parents towards current and new ideas around parenting that are attachment informed, trauma aware, and mindful of neurodivergence.
